DOWNLOAD SEINLINE 2.17.1 (2.70MB)

DOWNLOAD THE SEINLINE DATABASE (170KB)

Changes in 2.17.1 (released 31st Oct 2004):

  • Fixed: Critical bug regarding the database file. The only change is in the db file "resource" so it's not necessary to upgrade if you already have Seinline 2.17 and if you download the latest version of "resource". There is no change in the executable "seinline.exe". The latest version of "resource" has simply been added to the installer of Seinline 2.17.1 (and the version number changed to 2.17.1 in the executable and in the help file, that's it).

    Changes in 2.17 (released 21st Mar 2004):

  • A button has been added to the room for calling the highscores exporting menu
  • The exporting menu is now positioned automatically in 800x600, 1024x768, and 1280x1024 resolutions.
  • The option is now given to save the scores in the directory of your choice.
  • Whole new encryption algorithm for the exported highscores. Now the only characters allowed for a highscore name are digits, upper and lower case letters, and spaces:

    0123456789
    abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
    ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

All other characters are automatically removed and the name is cropped to 9 characters (maximum authorized length). All these changes were necessary in order to make the encryption algorithm as strong as possible. Highscores exported with a version prior to 2.17 are not allowed anymore. There is a warning on the upload page that you must use Seinline 2.17+ to export your highscores.
  • Continued to organize and indent the code for the final release of Seinline which will be open source.

    Changes in 2.16.1 (released 13th Mar 2004):

  • Fixed a minor bug with the upload menu.
  • Continued to organize and indent the code for the final release of Seinline which will be open source.

    Changes in 2.16 (released 1st Feb 2004):

  • Recompiled with GM 5.2
  • The file 'seinline.cfg' which is used to save the MIDI file and the favorite backgroud color will be erased and replaced by 'seinline2.cfg'. It's a GM 5.2 issue. The new compiler corrupted the algorithm to encrypt 'seinline.cfg', so I had to make a new algorithm, and now I can't decrypt 'seinline.cfg' with Seinline 2.16.
  • Fixed-up the icon.
  • Sprite clean-up: executable smaller.
  • Seinline now comes with an installer.
  • Export function to upload highscore to the website. Press shift-H during the game and follow the instructions.

    Changes in 2.15:

  • Two major bugs fixed. The last few changes in the design of the game screwed up a script for deleting tiles over the hidden quote. This has been fixed. The other bug was too much computing for checking aligned heads. This has been fixed too and the result is that the heads fall smoother.
  • Although the possibility of cheating in windowed mode could have been avoided, the game is still paused in this mode. The two buttons for sound and music have been kept.
  • Unless a major bug is found, the next release won't be until the database is completed.

    Changes in 2.14.2:

  • New custom background for pop-up messages (same colors and design as main logo)
  • It's possible to switch to windowed mode again (with a button in the top right of the screen or by pressing F4), but not to play while in this mode. However in this mode, a pop-up message allows you to turn on/off sound and/or music and to test them in order to balance volume between both. Once done, the game returns to full screen mode.
  • Everytime a pop-up message is displayed (by default over the main logo), the main logo is then made invisible. This change is purely esthetic.

    Changes in 2.14.1:

  • Bug fixed for changing position of pop-up messages in 800x600
  • Default position for pop-up messages is now set exactly over the main logo in 800x600, 1024x768, and 1280x1024 resolutions.

    Changes in 2.14:

  • Less CPU usage. The game can reach its optimal speed on older machines.
  • The game now starts and works only in full-screen mode. You can't switch to windowed mode. This change was necessary to avoid cheating. I won't exlplain how. ;-)
  • Bug fixed for the 'D' menu. 'The Diplomat's Club' was loaded instead of 'The Doorman'.
  • The cursor is back and is always displayed within the game area.
  • The message "Press F1 for help" has been replaced by the classic ? X buttons, to either show the help screen, or quit the game.
  • Bug fixed for position of pop-up messages in 1024x768 (still buggy in 800x600). You can now choose any position on the screen.
  • Recompiled with GM 5.1 - The executable is 200KB bigger than with 5.0, but it will allow me to fix some minor bugs and to add new cool features.
  • When loading a new episode, the current background color was changed to the default one, either white or the one previously saved with <shift><F2>. Now the current background color is kept when loading a new episode and the one saved is loaded only if you quit the game and restart the program.

    Changes in 2.13:

  • Sometimes the game was not pausing when pressing the spacebar at the same moment a new stack of falling heads was created. This has been fixed.
  • Fine tuning of the arrow keys where you couldn't press the left or right key in advance for when the heads are falling very fast and you are waiting for a new stack of heads to be created.
  • You can't toggle screen mode more than once a second, like many other functions in the game. This is to prevent cheating: it is possible to slow down the game by calling these functions fast and repeatedly.
  • The cursor is not displayed anymore within the game area. It shows only when a pop-up message is displayed. This speeds-up graphics a little on older machines. You can still set the position of pop-up messages at current mouse position by pausing the game before pressing [A] because the cursor is still displayed in pause mode. Please choose a position within the window for the game. When message position is set outside the game's window, the result is quite unpredictable. It will be fixed hopefully in the next version of the game.
  • The 'falling arrow' is now replaced by the 'stop sign' whenever the action is idle. It used to be replaced only when the program was checking for aligned similar heads.
  • You are now offered to visit the Seinline website whenever you choose an epsiode not yet added to the database. There is also a new key [F8] to visit the Seinline website as well during the game. (Note that the file 'website.htm' from the Seinline directory is needed to perform this action.)
  • The 'highscore' file is now encrypted
  • Special ASCII characters that are reserved by the program are now automatically removed from the name entered by the player for a highscore.

    Changes in 2.12:

  • All the code has been reformatted, organized, and lightened in the event that I make the source code available (maybe for the final version when the database is completed)
  • Miscellaneous minor bugs fixed
  • A pop-up message, when loading ‘The Trip (1) and (2)’, tells you which character is replacing Elaine
  • The letter K is colored in Cosmo Kramer, not the C!
  • slightly less resources used, so it will run a little faster on older machines

    Changes in 2.11:

  • Now each episode has its own highscore, in addition to the Top Ten Players highscores
  • You can change the position of the pop-up messages
  • Highscore table fixed
  • Better graphics
  • You can't click anymore on the name of a character. You must use the answer keys (J,G,E,K or O)
  • A new key [H] to view the highscore table during a game

    Changes in 2.10:

  • Recompiled with GM5 (runs faster on older machines)
  • Better sound effects
  • Miscellaneous minor bugs fixed
  • Now you can fool around with backgound colors. 2 new control keys for that (see help file)

    Changes in 2.01:

  • Bug fixed for the 'M' menu; the wrong episode was loaded
